Chi’s Enterprise Diabend, 120 caps Diabend has been formulated to support blood sugar levels and healthy insulin function with a combination of all natural herbal extracts. Diabend contains herbal extracts of: • Gymnema sylvestre • Trigonella goenum-graecum L (Fenugreek) • Allium sativum (garlic) • Allium cepa (onion) • Momardica charantia (Bitter melon) • Chromium picolinate • Morus alba L. (Mulberry leaf) • Astragalus membranaceus • Coptis Chinensis (berberin) Gymnema Gymnema is an herb that has been used to support healthy blood sugar levels in India’s Ayurveda. The name of Gymnema literally means “The Sugar Destroyer”. Gymnema contains substances that decrease the amount of absorption of sugar from the intestines. Fenugreek Another ingredient, fenugreek, has been commonly used since ancient Egyptian times for reducing blood sugar level. More recently, a study involved 60 Type 2 diabetes patients who were given varying doses of fenugreek. After the study, post-meal blood glucose levels and urine sugar levels significantly decreased compared to the start of the study. In another study, 25 patients newly diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes were randomly divided into 2 groups: one treated with fenugreek and the placebo group. At the end of 2 months, group one had decreased insulin resistance and had a shorter period of elevated blood glucose levels than the placebo group. Garlic S-alyl cystein sulphoxide (SACS), an amino acid in garlic was found to significantly reduce the concentration of serum lipid and blood glucose. Bitter Melon Bitter melon contains a chemical that acts like insulin to help reduce blood sugar levels. The compounds responsible for bitter melon’s blood sugar reducing properties are charantin, polypeptide P., and oleanolic acid glucosides. Chromium Picolinate Chromium picolinate is an essential mineral that is a co-factor of insulin. A study recently published in the Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry shows that insulin function and glucose control in type 2 diabetic patients significantly improved after chromium picolinate supplementation. The double-blind, placebo-controlled, crossover study in Calcutta ‘s University College of Medicine conducted the study on 43 patients with type 2 diabetes. Improvements were seen after 12 weeks of chromium administration. Mulberry Leaf Extract Mulberry leaf extract is used in Traditional Chinese Medicine practices as a blood tonic, to clear lung heat, and fire in the liver. Mulberry leaf extract may contain compounds that inhibit intestinal enzymes that break down sugars, restricting the amount of sugar that enters the blood stream. Astragalus Astragalus has a long history of use as an adaptogen but it may also improve insulin sensitivity. Accoring to a study published in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology, astragalus extract delivered in the amount of 700mg per kilogram of body weight a day for eight weeks lowe
